The TC

move one
step
closer
to their

Offensively
we moved
the ball
well -
Coach

had his

straight
as he
controlled
the
clock
with a
1st down
here and
a 1st
down
there…
The
offensive

showed
why we
call'em
the

After an

Alec

Now, if
you know
anything
about
this

you know
our

does not
need
much -
nor do
we give
up much
- as a
matter
of fact,
can you
believe
that we
did not
allow a

WOW - an
amazing
feat in
and of
itself.

Week 12 107# Middleweight Super Bowl
Team Birkhaug-7 Team McMillan-0
On a frigid Saturday, two tough middleweight teams met for the Super Bowl Championship. Team McMillan and Team Birkhaug battled for a full 40 minutes and one score decided this one with Team Birkhaug prevailing with a 7-0 victory.
The game started with both defenses flexing their muscles and forcing the offenses to punt. As the first half progressed the Birkhaug offensive line established themselves and began opening holes. Max Woodworth, Donnie Pannier, Thomas Sweet, Cameron MacKenzie, Zachary Camper, Jack Bodine, and Boone DeLavallade blocked hard all day and led the way for the strong running of Liam Burns, Michael Huck, Jake Birkhaug, and Christian Barger.
Late in the second quarter, long runs by Birkhaug up the middle, complemented by speedy sprints to the outside by Huck moved the ball deep into McMillan territory. Burns finished the drive by banging it in from the 2 yard line for what turned out to be the only touchdown on the day. Birkhaug powered in the extra point to post a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing kick-off, Barger chased down a strong Birkhaug kick and recovered the ball before the receiving team could fall on it. With less than two minutes in the half, the Birkhaug offense threatened to score again and got as far as the 3 yard line. The McMillan defense held strong and denied a score to remain within a touchdown going to halftime.
The story of the second half was the Birkhaug defense stepping up to try to preserve the shut-out and the victory. The D-line played their best game of the year with Woodworth, Elijah Schaffer, and Kyle McWeeney all making huge plays behind the line of scrimmage to frustrate the offense. Pannier and Barger did a great job from the end positions to keep the tight-ends in check and forcing the run inside. Nathan Donati, Huck, and Burns were strong on the run and pass defense from the corner and safety positions and Birkhaug, MacKenzie, and Johnnie Finocchio made big tackles at linebacker.
Team McMillan continued to battle and threatened to score late in the fourth. A long pass play moved the ball deep into Birkhaug territory. The D would not break and an interception by MacKenzie with under 2 minutes to play helped preserve the third straight playoff shut-out for Team Birkhaug. When Barger would not be denied on a fourth down quarterback sneak, the clock ran out and the Super Bowl championship was decided.
The coaches and parents are so proud of this team that started with an 0-4 record, worked to improve each week, and finished by winning 6 of their last 7 games and allowing just one touchdown in the final 5 weeks. A special thanks to Brad Barr who cheered on his team the last two weeks after he was sidelined with an injury. Congratulations on an incredible season!

They
did it
all
together
as a

There
were
several
ingredients
to the

all
added up

Three of
them
were
Great

When

to score
on the

Jon
Chapman
answered,
“We just
all
tried as
HARD as

to not

score
and then
we got
the
ball.”
Gold’s
offense
of

It was
truly a

effort
of great
coaching
and
excellent

by Coach

done.
Somehow
Gold
