Week 9 87# B10 Black
Tri-City Chargers 28 vs. Libertyville 0
The Bantam Big 10 team completed their undefeated regular season (9 – 0)
with a convincing victory against visiting Libertyville 28 – 0. The Chargers
scored on their first offensive play from scrimmage with a 50-yard TD run by
Pat "The Bullet" Griffin. As usual, the Chargers received steady and
focused play in the backfield from Mikey "The General" Hohensee,
Thomas "The Train" Schroeder and Nico "The Hammer" Piaskowy.
The "Black Angus Beef Boys" of Westin "High Tower" Wiseman, Dean
"The Ravioli" Arriviello, Alec "The Cat" Champine, Jon "The
Glove" Sotirakopulos and Jack "Big Foot" Douglas opened holes on
the offensive line that “Oprah” could have run through. Michael
"The Boot" Cooney added two extra points for the day to finish the
regular season @ 60% of PAT conversions. On defense, Peter "The Stinger"
Ferraro gave the Libertyville running backs “the kitchen sink” by forcing a
fumble on the first defensive play of the game. Michael "The Jackal"
Jaffe, Nate "The Beast" Jimenez, "Slippery" Tyler Storms,
Spencer "The Mayor" Olson, Lucas "The Truck" Segobiano, Tommy
"The Snake" Laduzinsky and Mason "The Missile" Alberts brought
the pain on the Libertyville attack. Griffin and Schroeder did double-duty
on defense subbing for injured players Riley "The Torpedo" Anderson
and Chris "The Golden Boy" Edlund. The Tri-City Chargers ended the
regular season scoring 180 points (20 points per game) while giving up a
total of 30 points (3.33 point per game). Tri City’s next game will be
Sunday, the first round of the playoffs, and a rematch against Cary. The
Chargers will have to bring their “A-game” for the playoffs |

Week 10 Bantam 87 (Super Bowl game)
Tri City Black Tolle 24 - Tri City Hanson 6
On a cool Saturday morning two teams that dominated the regular season meet
for the 2008 Tri City Bantam weight Super Bowl. Team Hanson who was the best
team in the league throughout the season and Team Tolle who was tied for
second at seasons end. Both teams played well trough the season and deserved
to be in this game.
Just like many big games this game started off by both teams feeling the
other team out. Good defense by both teams kept the score 0-0 in the first
quarter. The defense started out with Robbie "Golden Arm" Kortan, Conor "The
Hammer" Dixon, Danny "Rocket" Buetow, Jacob "57 Ketchup" Preston, Tyler
"Tank" Johnson, Garret "Bulldog" Sanders, Owen "The Head" Hunter, Cody
"Sniper" Mitchell, Cade "Blanda" Callaghan, "Big Nick" Tolle, Carson "Blaze"
Hughes, and Ben "Tooth" Anderson. These boys rotated in and out with other
players and did a great job of holding the high powered Hanson offense
scoreless in the first half.
On the second to last play of the first half running behind a huge hole
created by Tyler Johnson and Vance "Saber Tooth" Dumas, Danny Buetow raced
50 yards down the right side line for the first score of the game giving
team Tolle a 6 - 0 lead going into halftime.
The start of the second half saw the Hanson team control the ball for the
majority of the 3rd quarter and tie the score up 6-6 going into the 4th
quarter of the Super Bowl.
At the beginning of the 4th quarter team Tolle turned the ball over on four
downs and gave the ball to team Hanson. Team Hanson tried to throw the ball
on their next possession but a blitzing Jacob Preston hit the quarterback
and the ball was picked out of the air by Robbie Kortan who took the
interception and in a flash was in for the second touchdown of the day for
team Tolle. The score was 12 - 6 and momentum was clearly on the side of
team Tolle. The defense playing inspired football kept the Hanson team once
again from a first down. When the offense stepped on the field you can tell
they wanted to put this game away. "Lil Nick" Kortan, Ryan "TD" Thiesse, and
the starting offense swaggered on the field ready to deliver the knock out
punch. When Jacob Preston ran outside on the first play many people
including the announcer thought he was down, but his team knew better. As
seen in previous week's team Tolle does not stop trying and neither did
Jacob. Assisted by great down field blocking by "The Hammer", "Blaze", and
"TD" allowed team Tolle to score on a play the symbolized how the coaches
practiced each week; never giving up, great blocking and keep running out
the play.
Now looking at an 18 - 6 deficit team Hanson tried to come back quickly by
throwing the ball. Danny Buetow jumped an out route and picked off the
throw and took it 55 yards for the final score of the game 24-6 team Tolle.
A great effort by both teams and another great season for the Tri-City
Chargers program was seen by family and friends of both teams.

Week 11 97# P10 Gold
Tri City Chargers (Gold)-6 vs. Tri City Chargers
(Purple)-0
Gold was able to walk away with the “W” on Saturday
capturing the 7th shutout this year against
Purple in Round 2 of the playoffs. The Game started with
Brian Baumgartner executing an excellent kick to purple.
Ryan Skibinski, Tristan Bolin, and Griffin Bellano had
great tackles stopping them from scoring. Gold then
received the ball on their own 43. The offensive line
of Aaron Housenga, Brendan Feichter, Brian Baumgartner,
Liam Kelly, William Matthews, William Gibson and Keegan
Hughes played smash mouth football which enabled Gold’s
running backs to gain chucks of yards to change field
position in Gold’s favor. Defense came out after change
of possession and stopped Purple once again with Gold
taking over on Purples 49 yd. Line. “Ski” ran the ball
to the 30 yd. Line, and then on the very next play ran
for the 30 yd. TD! On Purple’s next possession Tristan
Bolin stripped the ball with “Ski” recovering it on
Gold’s 47. That drive stalled with Purple taking over
on Gold’s 37. The defensive line of Liam Kelly, William
Gibson, Dominic Cosentino, Ryan St. Peter, Tristan
Bolin, and Jon Chapman stopped Purple’s drive with Nick
Anastasia making a great open field tackle. Gold’s
offense took over on their own 26. Nicholas Sherman had
a 30 yd. power run however the drive was stopped. “Ski”
was able to intercept the ball on Purple’s next drive to
end the half. The second half although scoreless was
still competitive. Neither team gave up and both came
out playing even harder. Gold’s offense had a long drive
with a TD called back and after a loss of possession
Purple started on their own 5 yd. Line. Defense came
out even tougher with a couple sacks by Liam Kelly and
Tristan Bolin and an interception by Matthew Peruba to
stop Purple’s long drive and allow Gold to take a knee
to end the game. Gold celebrated the win with Nicholas
Sherman’s Birthday! Thanks to the Lorenz family for
coming out to cheer Gold on.

WEEK 10 1ST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS 107 PURPLE
TC-CHARGERS
107-Purple 0 VS TC-CHARGERS 107 Kaufman 8
The
Middleweight Tri-City team of, JJ Reckards, Grant
Schiewe, Bradley Thomas, Scott Robak, Nick Buseski, Jack
Wassel, Sean Chambers, Anthony Lopez, Blake Saltsman,
Will Porteous, Alex Bohanek, Matthew Ceinski, Timothy
Roels, Nicholas Barron and Jesse Martinez, came up short
in the first round of the playoffs in a loss to Team
Kaufman 8-0. The offense gained a net 73 yards on 40
plays, while the defense held Team Kaufman to a positive
189 yards of total offense. We just could not get into
the end zone due to the many mental errors at critical
times. Just when we would start moving the ball on the
ground we would receive a penalty and have to start
over. We were never able to get into a rhythm. The
defense would bend but not break. Throughout the game
the defense would deny Team Kaufman from scoring. Three
times Team Kaufman would get inside the 10 yard line and
the defense would stiffen and deny the touchdown. Team
Kaufman would take the lead 2-0 late in the third
quarter on a botched punt attempt by the Purple team at
their seven yard line. This would be the score until
late in the fourth
quarter when Team Kaufman would get the ball
back on Purples 25 yard line. On several key pass plays
they would drive the ball down to the 4 yard line and
score for an 8-0 lead. Jesse Martinez became a one man
defense late in the forth quarter by causing a fumble
and recovering it at the same time. It is sad to say
goodbye to the team and know there will be no more games
this year. The coaching staff would like to thank the
parents for being so supportive of us throughout the
year. It was a pleasure watching 15 boys grow from week
to week and become a team. So many of our players were
first timers and it was great to watch them become
football players and gain an appreciation of the game.
We are happy to know the players, parents and coaches
will take away more than just memories of football but
of friendships, lessons of sportsmanship and fair play.
Regardless of how bad things are if you give your best
on every play good things will happen. Keep the faith.
Things will get better! Remember:
GREAT
THINGS HAPPEN TO TEAMS THAT BELIEVE IN
THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!! PRACTICE HARD WIN EASY!!!!!!!!!
Great job Chargers!
SEE YOU ALL NEXT
YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Week Playoff Tri City Chargers Middleweight
Team Vruno 0- Team MacMilan 21
Team Vruno finishes their season with a tough loss on
Saturday afternoon at Moosheart Stadium in Batavia.
The playoff loss leaves no reason for Team Vruno to hang
their heads. It was a very good season and the team played
with heart and intensity throughout. The game started on a
good note as Jack Ahern connected on a few pass plays to J.J.
Vruno and Justin Nebel to keep the chains moving. The
offensive line of Cody Kronkow, Riley Kral, Chris Davis,
Colin Stuhlmacher, Evan Wiseman, and Grant Schumock, allowed
for Ahern to throw for a season high 12 attempts. The
defense of Josh Black, John Helgeson, Jack Housenga, Bret
Reed, Mac Read, and Andrew Modjeski, who also fell on a
fumble, kept the game close against a fast offense. Matt Loberg
was again part of the cheering section but wishes he was on
the field to help h is team. The season comes to a close
but everyone will take the experiences from the year and
build upon them in seasons to come. The Vruno coaching
staff was outstanding in preparing the boys for each game by
following a set game plan. The coaches also taught
that discipline and teamwork will equal success. The team
now rests and the parents will prepare for the Vruno team
party. |

Week 9- 107# Big Ten
Tri-Cities-6 vs. Libertyville- 26
The 107# Big Ten Chargers fought hard during their last
regular season game this past Sunday at Campton. On
offense, Ramon Lopez, Daniel Santacaterina, and Nich Derr
all ran the ball effectively, punishing Libertyville
defenders along the way. Quarterback Reid Connolly
showed good composure, completing passes to TJ
Miller and a 28 yard TD pass to Laren Eustace to open up
the second quarter. The "Five Henchmen" O-Line,
featuring Alec Jacquot, John Vargyas, Matt Meyers, Matt
Leone, and Brandon Marshall battled hard in the
trenches the entire game.
Our defense, lead by Johnny "sackman" Jimenez, Anthony
Scaccia, Ben Slattery, and Mitchell Riggs, pounded
Libertyville's offense, delivering punishing tackles and
dropping several runners in the backfield. Nick Ferraro
blanketed receivers and repeatedly batted down passes,
as did Judson Huxtable, who intercepted a pass early in
the fourth quarter. Nick Traxler and Ryan Navigato also
took turns living in the Libertyville backfield.
The Chargers vow to put
this one behind them. Now, a new season starts as the
boys get ready to play Crystal Lake in the playoffs.
Go Chargers!
