Week 9 Bantam 87 (Second playoff game)
Tri City Black Tolle 19 - Tri City Miller 12

Just like the first meeting of the two teams Tolle and Miller, the game was a thriller from the start to the finish. Team Tolle came out to play but was met by a determined Miller squad that got off to a quick 6-0 lead. The defensive consisting of Robbie "Golden Arm" Kortan, Tyler "Tank" Johnson, Jacob "57 Ketchup" Preston, Ben "Tooth" Anderson, "Big Nick" Tolle, Owen "The Head" Hunter, Cade "Blanda" Callaghan, Carson "Blaze" Hughes, Conor "The Hammer" Dixon, and Cody "Sniper" Mitchell and Garret "Bulldog" Sanders was tested early. Great pushes up the middle was negated by broken plays around the end by the running backs on team Miller. Team Miller got another score but was unable to convert on either one of the extra point attempts. With the score 12-0 team Tolle never gave up and on the final drive of the first half saw the team march down to the one yard line behind great blocking by Ben "Tooth" Anderson, "Big Nick" Tolle, Vance "Saber tooth" Dumas, Tyler "Tank" Johnson, Carson "Blaze" Hughes, and Ryan "TD" Thiesse. Cade "Blanda" Callaghan ran with determination and set the tone for what would be a great second half. Cade would also run back a kick to open the second half of the game but was called back. The momentum was clearly shifting directions. After the defense came up big with great tackles by Tyler "Tank" Johnson, Cody "Sniper" Mitchell, Garret "Bulldog" Sanders, and Ben "Tooth" Anderson the offense took control of the game. Jacob "57 Ketchup" Preston took the handoff and headed up the field for a 55 yard TD to put the first points on the board for team Tolle. The defense then stopped the tough Miller squad once again and gave the ball to the offense. This time it was a successful long drive that started at the end of the 3rd quarter and went into the fourth quarter, a drive that included runs by Danny "Rocket" Buetow, Preston and Callaghan, with outstanding blocking by the offensive line. By the end of the drive team Tolle had a 13 - 12 lead. The defense and offense was over powering in the second half and completely took control of the game. Another great stop on defense and another score by the offense and the game was 19 - 12 in favor of team Tolle. The never quit attitude that this team has is seen in the great coaching that it has with coach's Jeff Anderson, Dave Kortan, Ron Buetow and Mike Tolle. The team from coach to kid never gave up on this game or this season and that attitude has propelled them to a Super bowl appearance. Good luck kids this week and Go Chargers!

Week  87# B10 Black
Tri-City Chargers 14 vs. Crystal Lake Raiders 0
The Bantam Big 10 team in the much anticipated battle with the also-undefeated Crystal Lake Raiders was victorious once again. The Chargers won 14-0. Folks this was a dandy. The Chargers jumped out to an early lead after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff. Coach Alberts and his offense went to work - the meat grinder was on a slow coarse grind - the "Black Angus Beef Boys" of Westin "High Tower" Wiseman, Dean "The Ravioli" Arriviello, Alec "The Cat" Champine, Jon "The Glove" Sotirakopulos and Jack "Big Foot" Douglas just kept driving the Raiders backward… Mikey "The General" Hohensee got his troops firing on all cylinders, Pat "The Bullet" Griffin & Thomas "The Train" Schroeder each scored TD's for the Chargers and Michael "The Boot" Cooney added a PAT during the wind storm. We had a great day on special teams as well - recovering 2 fumbles and keeping the CL offense off the field - the first half ended 14-0 -Chargers… In the 2nd half it time for the steel curtain defense to tighten its grip on the throat of victory… bone crushing hits by the rabid Michael "The Jackal" Jaffe, Nate "The Beast" Jimenez, "Slippery" Tyler Storms, Spencer "The Mayor" Olson & Chris "The Golden Boy" Edlund. The LB crew of Nico "The Hammer" Piaskowy, Peter "The Stinger" Ferraro & Lucas "The Truck" Segobiano brought the pain on the Crystal Lake running backs - forcing several fumbles, a big one inside our own 10 yd line recovered by Tommy "The Snake" Laduzinsky.  Shutting down the sweep was Mason "The Missile" Alberts & Riley "The Torpedo" Anderson. The Chargers improve to 8-0 and get ready to close the regular season out against a hungry Libertyville team.

Week 1 Playoff 97# Rawson
Rawson - 0 vs. Bonbreake - 20

The Rawson Silver Falcons met Team Bonbreake in the first round of the playoffs. It was a cool blustery day that made it difficult to get our offense going. Our defense played tough and hung with their offense as well as we could. In the end, we just weren't able to outplay our opponents and the game ended with a 20-0 defeat. A successful season canʼt always be defined by wins and losses. We had 17 fine boys come together and play as a team. Many learned new positions and hopefully developed a love for the game. They were All Stars to us: Jimmy Fleck, Jackson Kemple, Julian Desens, Mike Rawson, Jake Chantos, Jason Turnbull, Jack Hood, Jack Doherty, Justin Johnson, Kyle Duermit, Cameron Canales, Connor Williams, Peter Eshbaugh, Mario Folino, William Fredricks, Chris Holloway and Stephen Woodcock. Also, we are thankful for the time put in by Head Coach Rawson and Assistant Coaches Olstad and Woodcock. And before you know it we will be back under the hot July sun in Conditioning Camp.

107# Big Ten
Tri City Chargers-19 vs. Crystal Lake Raiders-14

On a day when Mother Nature unleashed her fury with only swarming locusts not making an appearance, the 107# Big Ten Chargers overcame both the harsh conditions and the Raiders of Crystal Lake, winning a key intradivision showdown 19-14 at Campton Hills. Crystal Lake jumped out to a 6-0 lead but the Chargers then ran off 19 straight unanswered points. A pivotal play coming on outside linebacker Nick Ferraro's "pick 6" as he intercepted a Crystal Lake pass in the flat and took it to the house some 60 plus yards later. Nick Derr added a one yard TD run early in the third quarter after a Daniel Santacaterina interception. Later that same quarter, QB Reid Connolly hit wide open TE Lauren Eustace with a 39 yard TD strike to move the score to 19-6. Hard running by Ramon Lopez behind the crunching blocks of lineman Matt Meyers, John Vargyas, Brandon Marshall, Alec Jacquot and Matt Leone enabled the Chargers to control the clock during a key portion of the fourth quarter.

The Chargers defense was superb throughout much of the game against the Raiders who were far and away the most prolific scoring offense in the TCYFL 107 # Big Ten Division. The Chargers defense allowed the Raiders only three yards of net offense in the second and third quarters when the Chargers took control of the game. Defensive ends Mitchell Riggs and Nick Traxler both had big plays with a tackle for a loss and a sack respectively. Ryan Navigato was his normal disruptive self stopping Raider ball carriers cold. Linebacker Ben Slattery had a sack and several tackles while fellow inside backer Johnny Jimenez made several key stops. Cornerbacks Juddy Huxtable and Anthony Scaccia denied the Raiders the corner in their running game while also contributing sound pass defense. Wideout/safety TJ Miller patrolled centerfield on defense, denying the Raiders the opportunity to kick their offense into high gear. The win takes the Chargers to 6-2 on the season in the TCYFL and continues their momentum as they head into the last week of the regular season and then the playoffs. Great win Chargers!

Week 8 Tri City Chargers Middleweight

Team Vruno 7- Team Birkhaug 33

In the final game of the regular season Team Birkhaug comes away victorious over Team Vruno.  The 33-7 score does not tell the story of the game and how close it really was.  After Team Birkhaug went ahead in the first quarter 7-0,  Team Vruno marched right down the field and answered back with 52 yard scamper from Justin Nebel.  Nebel was able to bounce to the outside and after the perfect blocking scheme from Josh Black, Andrew Modjeski, Evan Wiseman, Colin Stuhlmacher and JJ Vruno; Nebel out ran the Birkhaug secondary to the right corner of the end zone to get Vruno on the board. Nebel also added the extra Point by pounding through the Birkhaug line.  The defensive play of Cody Kronkow, Chris Davis, John Helgeson, Bret Reed, and Mac Read did a great job of containing the Birkhaug running game on the outsides.  As most games go, few big pla ys enabled Birkhaug to pull away.  Although the score was not in their favor, there were many positives that Vruno can take into the playoffs.  The versatility of Team Vruno enabled Jack Ahern to get his first start at Quarter Back.  Black, Modjeski, and Grant Schumock ran the ball for the first time picking up positive yards.  Team Vruno also forced 3 more turnovers this week, Nebel and Schumock fell on fumbles and Jack Housenga came up with a big interception.  Team Vruno has forced 7 turnovers and have stolen 4 on side kicks in their last 3 games.  Giving them 11 extra offensive possessions.  Something that usually goes unnoticed but hasn't here, is the center to quarter back exchange.  The sure handed Riley Kral has made sure to give his quarter backs a chance with every snap this season.  No balls have been lost or even put on the ground.  Mac Read's defensive s ide had a coming out party with 8 tackles on the afternoon, nea rly half of his season total of 18 coming on one day!  Team Vruno misses the tenacity of Matt Loberg (injured) but is grateful he is on the side line cheering every play.  So as Team Vruno heads into the playoffs, there are many positives to build on!  Their heads and spirits will be high as they soar into practice this week and prepare for their big game on Saturday!

Week 9 107# Team Leonhard
Team Leonhard - 6 vs. Team Saltzman - 20

With a cold wind blowing, the team was limited to ten players on the field due to the illness or injury of Luis Martinez, Joe Meyers, Jacob Gabinski and Tyler Camp, and the ineligibility of one player to play on the defensive side. The offense started out strong, with Chris Impson carrying the ball in the first two series for a total of 35 yards and 2 first downs. Unfortunately, even though the offensive line of Andrew Holzapfel, Mitch Davey, Matt Weston, Luke Doncel, Jake Llava, Nathan Ohse and Robert Kudlicki tried their best to hold back Saltzman, the guys were not able to score. On their first drive, Saltzman, despite punishing tackles by Kyle Lorenz, Josh Leonhard, Daniel Zielecki, Doncel and Holzapfel, racked up a touchdown and extra point at the beginning of the second quarter. Although a pass was intercepted on our next offensive possession, we got the ball back quickly when Doncel recovered a fumble. When we again turned the ball over on downs, Saltzman scored a second TD and extra point. In the second half, things turned around a bit when Kudlicki recovered the ball when it was jostled out of the opponent’s hands by Impson, Leonhard caught a well-thrown pass from Lorenz for a fourteen yard gain, and Impson raced down the field for 33 yards. After a couple more plays, Impson scampered across the goal line, making the score 14-6. Although the defense kept up its aggressive play, Saltzman was able to score again in the fourth quarter. When the ensuing field goal was blocked by Leonhard and Kudlicki, the final score stood at 20-6. Although not victorious, each player on the team showed how much better they had gotten during the year. GO TEAM IN THE PLAY-OFFS!!!
