Week 5 08 # Flag Gold
Tri City Chargers Gold vs. Tri City Chargers Maroon

DEFENSE…DEFENSE…DEFENSE

That was certainly the theme of the game for both teams this week.  The Gold team started the game on defensive and the boys were outstanding.  They forced the Maroon team to go 4 & OUT on their first 2 possessions.  The lineup of Sweet, Mack, Little, Domenz, Arrambide, Taylor, Buza, Rupp, and Pantano only gave up 2 first downs the entire first half of the game.  OUTSTANDING!!!  The Maroon defense provided very little running room for our Gold team.  Our Star of the Game this week was “Slammin” Sammy El-Sherif and he was able to pound out a few hard fought rushing yards.  While all of their focus was on stopping El-Sherif, we made a few quick adjustments and attacked them with our passing game.  A 25 yard touchdown pass from Rupp to Pantano and a PAT run by El-Sherif highlighted the 1st half.  The 2nd half offered another dominating performance by both defenses.  Football is a game of inches and we were able to strike again on our 2nd possession.  Taylor, Birdsong, Sweet, Dunklau, and El-Sherif were able to create a tight running lane for Rupp and he followed the blocking of Pantano, Arrambide and Buza for a 58 yard QB keeper.  This play set the team record for longest scoring play from scrimmage this year.  Great game boys!!!  1-2-3 GO GOLD!!!

Week 5 Flag Football Team Maroon

Team Maroon vs. Tri-City Gold

All Maroon team members were greeted with balloons, signs and breakfast just before the homecoming game against Gold.  They were all loaded up on donuts and orange juice and ready to go!  Even though the two teams were evenly matched, the Maroon team fell victim to two long plays both resulting in scores for Gold.  However, Maroon wasnʼt giving up!  Late in the second half the offensive line anchored by Logan Burch helped Jack Luchetti find a hole to score a touchdown for the Maroon team.  Great effort, Maroon!  The play of the game this week was by Mitchelle Canales, when he sacked the QB when Gold was going for the extra point.  Way to go Mitchelle!  Next week we are home against Tri-City White.

Week 4 87# P10 Green

TCC Cavish - Green Team, 6 vs. TCC Miller - Black Team, 24

Ideal weather was the recipe for the Cavish Green Team Homecoming game against the Miller Black Team. In spite of solid tackles by Sean Galle, Dan Daley and Matthew Conroy, Team Green found themselves in an early hole after Team Black drove down the field for a touchdown to open the first quarter. Team Green made a valiant effort to stem the tide on their initial offensive series with key blocks from Trevor Golnick, Jack Klbecka, Jake Bridges and Bryson Welter to open holes for Kain Donohoo and Ryan Piontek.  Any hopes for a sustained drive, however, were thwarted by a swarming Team Black “D”. Team Green’s defensive stalwarts, led by Tyler Hahn, Kyler Cavish, Michael Davis, Jack Lewis, Ben Bohanek and fumble recoveries by Dan Daley and Kain Donohoo, inspired an attempted comeback, but Team Black’s run offense seemed to wear down Team Green and allow them to build on their lead.  While Team Black’s defense proved unyielding throughout the 2nd half, Team Green was finally able to crack the scoreboard. Team Green punched the ball down near the goal line on successive runs by Jeremy Baranauskas before a “TD” scoring run by Ryan Piontek through the heart of Team Black’s defense. As time lapsed, Team Green’s hopes of a victory were dashed, finding themselves on the short end of a 24-6 defeat.

Week 3 87# B10 Black
Tri-City Chargers 16 vs. Plainfield Jr. Cats 12
The Bantam Big 10 team after a week off road the train to victory this past weekend defeating a tough Plainfield team 16-12. What train you ask?... It was Thomas "The Train" Schroeder who delivered the one - two knockout punch scoring 2 TD's.  Michael "The Boot" Cooney was perfect on the day as he blasted 2 big PAT's through the uprights. Commanding the offense was Mikey "The General" Hohensee and adding valuable yards were backs Nico "The Hammer" Piaskowy & Pat "The Bullet" Griffin. Clearing the way up front were the "Black Angus Beef Boys" led by Dean "The Ravioli" Arriviello, Chris "The Golden Boy" Edlund, Jack "Big Foot" Douglas and Jon "The Glove" Sotirakopulos. When you man-handle your opponents up front only good things happen - nice job O-Line!

Defensively, we stymied the Jr. Cats, if not for a couple of missed tackles and some mental mistakes we really stuck it to them. Upfront the D-Line of Spencer "The Mayor" Olson, Michael "The Jackal" Jaffe, Tommy "The Snake" Laduzinsky, &  "Slippery" Tyler Storms closed down the inside attack and forced the Plainfield backs to the outside where we had a surprise waiting for them… Mason "The Missile" Alberts, Nate "The Beast" Jimenez, Riley "The Torpedo" Anderson and Alec "The Cat" Champine were there to slow them down and cleaning up the garbage at LB was Peter "The Stinger" Ferraro & Lucas "The Truck" Segobiano. Missing from the days action was Westin "High Tower" Wiseman. The Chargers improve to 3-0. Week 4 brings Warren to town please come and Cheer us on! GO CHARGERS!!!!

Week 4 Bantam 87
Tri City Black Tolle 26- Tri City McDonald 0

The Black team came out strong this week after a week off and a tough week in practice. Homecoming for team Tolle had an electric feel to it. With the cheerleaders on sidelines and the cars painted team Tolle didn't disappoint. The Game started out with Callaghan kicking the ball out of reach from the receiving team and then Buetow falling on ball. The Black team took the first play for a touchdown when Kortan threw a strike to Buetow who took the pass 50 yards for the score. The following series saw Team McDonald go four and out. That stop was highlighted by an outstanding play by Hughes who broke up a pass play, Johnson who stopped the running back for a five yard loss and Anderson with a solid hit in the backfield. The next offensive series the offensive line consisting of Anderson, Kortan, Tolle, Dumas, Johnson, Thiesse, and Hughes open a huge hole for Preston to run 40 yards for the second score of the game. After Dixon punched in the extra point the Black team was on its way.

The defensive for team Tolle carried the load and with consistent pressure from Johnson, Dumas, Kortan and Sanders. Then it was Callaghan, Hughes and Dixon playing the linebacker positions with precision. With Anderson and Tolle kept containment on the outside, Hunter kept the offense honest by not letting any deep balls get by him. Once again the offensive line created big holes for the running backs and saw Preston score his second touchdown of the game. Team McDonald tried the air attack which was intercepted by Mitchell for his second interception in as many games. Mitchell returned it to the 2 yard line where the offense saw Anderson and Thiesse try to punch it in. The second half saw an opening kick off return of 20 yards by Anderson and a 7 minute drive of ball control offensive with runs by Hughes, Tolle, and Callaghan. Team Tolle's offense wore down team McDonald's defense and the defense did not give up a score. Hughes ran in the final score of the game with a 15yard sweep around the left end. This was total team effort with almost every person running the ball and getting in on the action this team was prepared for battle. Team Black improves their record to 3-1. Go Chargers!

Week 4 87# B10 Black
Tri-City Chargers 14 vs. Warren Elite 6
The Bantam Big 10 team finished off the homecoming celebration by defeating a tough Warren Elite team 14-6. Following a car decorating, hair painting, parking lot fiesta the Chargers got down to business.  Offensively we moved the ball up and down the field 4-5 yards at a crack because our line was blocking to the whistle. Up front the "Black Angus Beef Boys" pulled together and opened huge holes, key blocks by Jon "The Glove" Sotirakopulos, Westin "High Tower" Wiseman and Dean "The Ravioli" Arriviello led to big gains by Pat "The Bullet" Griffin and Nico "The Hammer" Piaskowy. Thomas "The Train" Schroeder opened the scoring with a nice TD and Michael "The Boot" Cooney put it through the uprights for the PAT. Starting the 2nd half off with a bang was Chris "The Golden Boy" Edlund who raced down the field and recovered the onside kick. The Chargers then mounted a nice drive ending with Mikey "The General" Hohensee finding a wide open Lucas "The Truck" Segobiano in the end zone for the second score putting the Chargers up 14-6. Defensively we made some halftime adjustments moving Peter "The Stinger" Ferraro  to monster back which put an end to the Warren sweep attack. The D-line of Michael "The Jackal" Jaffe, Tommy "The Snake" Laduzinsky, "Slippery" Tyler Storms, Nate "The Beast" Jimenez, and Spencer "The Mayor" Olson disrupted the running game. A key strip of the ball and fumble recovery by Jack "Big Foot" Douglas gave the Chargers the ball back in which we ate valuable time on the clock. DB's Mason "The Missile" Alberts,  Riley "The Torpedo" Anderson and Alec "The Cat" Champine did a nice job slowing the outside attack to preserve the victory. The Chargers improve to 4-0. Week 5 puts the Chargers on the road to Lake Zurich for a Saturday evening game against the LZ Flames please come and Cheer us on! GO CHARGERS!!!!

Week 5 97LB AFC WHITE (Estrada)
Estrada (White) - 6 vs. Skibinski (Gold) - 25

Homecoming! The boys were excited to paint their hair green and come crashing onto the field through our outstretched banner. Our White team saw continued progress this week even as we fell to a very tough opponent. Our running game, behind the offensive line of Trace Debord (C), Cade Olinger (G), Aidan Flynn (G), Cody Johnson (T, and punted well again), and Matt Julseth (T), along with ends Charlie Downing and Joel Hardy, continued to show great progress and provide optimism for the future. Alex Drummheller was very difficult to tackle and found holes where none seemed to exist. Austin Gift kept his legs moving all afternoon, and scored our touchdown with an impressive run. Abe Swanson and Nick Funk also contributed mightily to four sustained and promising drives. Quarterback Jack Morgan’s legs moved the sticks for us on more than one occasion, and Jack Nitti even got into the action with an impressive run. Our defense was again lead by Kevin Weaver and Matt Julseth, who had six tackles and an early fumble recovery. They had great help from Nitti, Chris Galena, and Austin Gift , who were strong all day and looked particularly intimidating stuffing an extra point run by our opponent. Nick Funk, Jack Morgan and Abe Swanson also played solid defense, and the three of them gang-tackled another extra point run. Joel Hardy made an important fourth down tackle early to give us the ball, and also single-handedly stuffed a third opponent’s extra point attempt. Kyle King gets his cast removed this coming Monday, and we’re hoping he can rejoin our squad soon after that! Finally, THANKS to the Julseth Family who hosted our homecoming bash after the game. GO CHARGERS!!!!

Week #4 97” P10 Gold

Tri City Chargers (Gold)-25 vs. Tri City Chargers (White)-6

Today was Gold’s Homecoming.  Big day!  Big Plays!  Gold’s offense of Brian Baumgartner, Matthew Peruba, Nicholas Sherman, Ryan Skibinski, Aaron Housenga, Keegan Hughes, Griffin Bellano, Brendan Feichter, William Mathews, Liam Kelly and William Gibson scored three touchdowns in the first half. Ryan Skibinski ran for one 24-yard TD, and two 65-yard touchdowns. Gold’s Defense of Dominic Cosentino, Tristan Bolin, William Mathews, Brendan Feichter, Ryan St. Peter, Ryan Skibinski, Griffin Bellano, Jon Chapman, Nicholas Sherman, Nick Anastasia, and Keegan Hughes was able to hold White to only one TD the whole game.  It was a hot day on the field with both teams giving their all.  Our last TD came in the 3rd quarter with Griffin Bellano running 54 yards into the end zone.  Back on Defense Jon Chapman was hitting hard and Nick Anastasia had a QB sack.  Tristan Bolin, Nicholas Sherman, Keegan Hughes, Dominic Cosentino, William Gibson, and Ryan Skibinski all had key tackles as White attempted to move the ball down the field. Liam Kelly, Tristan Bolin and Keegan Hughes had a chance to run the ball in the last few minutes of the game.  The Tri City Cheerleaders were there celebrating our win with us. They also did some great half time cheers for both teams. Gold couldn’t have asked for a better Homecoming Game.  The players continue to work together as a team.  They’ll be back next week playing hard, trying to keep their undefeated record so far this season.  GO GOLD!!

Week4/5 97# Rawson Silver

Rawson - 6 vs. Wells - 25

Saturday’s game was a real challenge for the Rawson Silver Falcons.  The Wells team and the heat provided to be too much for our team to handle.  The boys never gave up and played tough the entire game. Mario Folino and Cameron Canales did an excellent job of receiving kick offs from Team Wells.  Our defensive squad battled hard. Kyle Duermit recovered a fumble to slow down our opponents. Julian Desens, Jason Turnbull, Jack Hood, Jackson Kemple, Justin Johnson, and William Fredericks all made important tackles.

The offense moved the ball downfield repeatedly but was having trouble penetrating the end zone. Jimmy Fleck, Jack Doherty, Chris Holloway, Connor Williams, Peter Esbaugh, and Stephen Woodcock blocked hard to open holes. In the second half Jake Chantos scored to put points on the board for the Silver Falcons. Michael Rawson came on and made a strong attempt on a PAT kick that just fell short.

The final score may have been Wells – 25  Rawson -6, but we are very proud of our sons for the determination they showed.

Week 4 97# Stallmann - Gold
Stallmann - 26 vs Chahino - 0

During a hot afternoon game Team Gold dominated with a defense that was on fire, constantly getting the ball back for the offense. There was a tremendous team effort and everyone contributed to a great performance. On special teams #3 Justin Galante, #11 Jay Stallmann and #24 Sam Grohe all recovered great kicks by #80 Graham Owen getting the offense back on the field. On offense #1 Tyler Welter, #3 Justin Galante (1 TD plus an extra point following the O-line in), #7 Bobby Pierce, #20 Miles Williams (1 TD), #24 Sam Grohe (2 TD plus 1 that got away due to a penalty) , #34 John Luna (big run) and #44 Cole Weede all ran the ball for 240 yards!. Next week Gold will face team Rapp. GO CHARGERS!!

Week4- 107# Big Ten
Tri-Cities-0 vs. Plainfield- 20

Despite dominating the first quarter, the 107# Big Ten Chargers were not able to bring home a victory this past weekend.

Quarterback Reid Connolly passed for 68 total yards, including a sensational 25 yarder to wide receiver TJ Miller. Laren Eustace returned a kickoff for eleven yards, taking five Plainfield defenders with him before finally being brought down. Workhorse Running backs Daniel Santacaterina and Nick Derr both ran the ball solidly, while the "Five Henchmen" O-Line, featuring Matt Meyers, Alec Jacquot, John Vargyas, Brandon Marshall and Matt Leone battled hard in the trenches for all four quarters.

The Tri-Cities defense also had some standout plays: Ramon Lopez drilled a Plainfield running back in the third quarter causing a fumble. Both John Jimenez and Ryan Navigato recovered fumbles, while Judson Huxtable and Nick Ferraro did a solid job breaking up Plainfield passes. Nick Traxler and Mitchell Riggs both had solid tackles. Ben Slattery baffled running backs, while Anthony Scaccia repeatedly blanketed receivers.

The boys realize they need to put this one behind them. They are learning that champions win as well as lose with grace and humility. They vow to work hard this week in practice, correct mistakes, and come back even stronger this weekend. Look for them to bring their "A" game to the house this coming Sunday vs. Warren. Go Chargers!

Week 4   107#  Team Leonhard

Tri-City Chargers Leonhard – 0 vs. Tri-City Chargers McMillan – 27

On an uncomfortably hot Indian summer day, the team started the game with an impressive kick-off return by Jacob Gabinski which put the ball well within the one yard line.  A series of penalties moved the ball back to the 22 yard line.  Even though Gabinski scrambled for 17 yards to the 5 yard line, the team turned the ball over on downs.  On its first offensive play, Team McMillan scored on a 95 yard run.   On our next offensive series, Chris Impson had a good run but penalties negated the yardage and the ball was turned over on downs.  McMillan, then, bull-dozed down the field to the 3 yard line but was stopped from scoring by the aggressive tackling of Kyle Lorenz, Josh Leonhard, Luke Doncel, Michael Hansen, Robert Kudlicki, and Daniel Zielecki.  Unfortunately, when our offense took over, a safety in the end zone gave McMillan another 2 points.  McMillan, then, received the ball and scored just before the half ended even though there had been good pass coverage by Doncel and Impson and great tackling by Jake Hlava, Leonhard and Zielecki.  The second half opened on a good note when Lorenz recovered the ball on a McMillan fumble.    The pendulum swung back to McMillan, however, when there was a fumble by us which they recovered.  On their next drive, a McMillan player was rushing for a touchdown but was thwarted by great play by Leonhard.   A couple plays later, however, McMillan was able to score and converted the extra point.  When we got the ball, Llava had a couple great runs but the series was broken up by a 15 yard penalty against us and a pass interception.  McMillan again marched down the field and, although hampered by a great play by Kudlicki as well as aggressive tackling by Leonhard, Llava, Doncel and Zielecki, made another touchdown.  With the score at 27-0, the mercy rule kicked in, allowing our team to try to score from the 20 yard line.  Despite great running by Leonhard, the team did not score and the game ended.  Here’s looking for success next time.  GO CHARGERS!

Week 4 -107# Team Teafoe
Team Teafoe 20 vs Team Gies - 12

Another tough TC challenger (Team Gies) came out strong and hard to score the first TD against Team Teafoe making the score 0-6 early in the first quarter.  Our defensive line led by Jack Schultz, Patrick Rosencrants, Jake Matula, Brandon Huff and Brett Hickey held strong to stop the extra point.
Team Teafoe's offense led by QB Kyle Brown, RB's Wyatt Teafoe and Brett Hickey and our FB Stratton Mortensen came back to even the score with the help of our outstanding blocking by OE  Huff, Tackles Schultz and Rosencrants, Guards Matula and Spencer Sharpe, End Quinn Calcagno, Defensive Backs Jarrod Raap and Ryan Perrotta, Safety Vince Basile and our Center, Jonathan Boenzi.
We failed to convert on the extra point, making the score 6-6.
Our offensive line held strong and with some key blocks, enabled our QB to slip out of several attempted tackles and with a final stiff arm leaped into the corner of the end zone to make the score 12-6.  This time Team Gies could not stop us and Hickey squeezed in for the extra point making the score 13-6 at the end of the first half.
We kicked off the second half and Team Gies ran it back for a TD.  We held strong on the extra point once again, keeping the score 13-12.  The very next play they kicked off to us and we in turn ran it back 60 yards to score our 3rd TD of the day and succeeded in converting on the extra point making the score 20-12.
Both teams held tough throughout the remainder of the second half.  In the very final seconds of the game Team Gies cleverly tried a play from "You Tube", but our smart thinking Defensive End Brett Hickey would not be fooled and made the final crushing hit to end the game!
We look forward to the return of Brandon Medder next week!
GO CHARGERS!

Week1 Bantam Team 6 Vegas Gold
Tri City Chargers (Vegas Gold) - 12 vs. Tri City Chargers (Black) - 6

The Gold Chargers started out the morning with a homecoming introduction that was a whole lot of fun for both the parents and the boys.  The opposing team struck first with a Touchdown run in the 2nd quarter making the score 0-6.  For the rest of the first half the score remained 0-6.  At half time the coaches were able to get the Gold Chargers going with a pep talk, and the team came out ready to play in the second half. The defense in the second half had some great individual efforts from, Jacob Cross and Matt Spurling (5 tackles), Pier Ricossa (4th down stop with a tackle), Mitch Mascari ( 1st recorded sack of the year for the gold chargers), Ethan Preece ( 2 stops behind the line of scrimmage).  The defense as a whole played very well the frontline of Mascari,Davis,Cross,Spurling,Kelly, C. White did not allow any big plays up the middle.  The linebackers Madden, Mroz, Preece, always play at a high level and continue to keep the big play at bay.  The corners Riccosa and A. White, are keeping the plays to the inside and working hard on not letting the play get outside.  And our safety Sandlund can be found at any area on the field on any play making the tackle.   Offensively we had one rushing T.D. in the second half by Sandlund to even the score to 6-6.  The score remained 6-6 and overtime was needed to settle this game.  The gold chargers won the toss and decided to take the ball and a rushing T.D. was scored by  Sandlund making the score 12 to 6.  The whole sideline was a buzz as the boys kept the opposition out of the end zone on there overtime possession.  The final score was 12-6 the gold chargers celebrated there homecoming win with a follow up party that was coordinated by Jennifer White team mom who did a great job with this and the whole team appreciated her hard work that went into making the party a great time for the boys and parents alike.

WEEK 5 112 PURPLE

TC-CHARGERS 112-Purple   7  VS   TC-CHARGERS 112 Vruno 10

The Middleweight Tri-City team of, JJ Reckards, Grant Schiewe, Bradley Thomas, Scott Robak, Nick Buseski, Jack Wassel, Sean Chambers, Anthony Lopez, Blake Saltsman, Will Porteous, Alex Bohanek, Matthew Ceinski, Timothy Roels, Nicholas Barron and Jesse Martinez, had a disappointing homecoming when they lost a close one to Team Vruno 10-7. The offense gained a net 93 yards on 21 plays in the first half but only touched the ball 4 times in the 2nd half. while the defense held Team Vruno to a positive 182 yards of total offense. Team Vruno was able to sustain an offensive drive throughout the game but every time they would get in the red zone our defense would stiffen. With the exception of their first score Purple kept team Vruno in check.  The game remained scoreless throughout most of the first half when Purple mounted a sustained drive. The offensive line of Tim Roels, Nick Buseski, Alex Bohanek, Will Porteous, Jesse Martinez and Blake Saltsman provided exceptional blocking when they sprung Sean Chambers for a 55 yard scamper down to the 8 yard line. Several plays later Chambers would rumble in from the 4 yard line for the go ahead touchdown and a 6-0 lead. On a slant pass from JJ Reckards to Tim Roels for the point after and a 7-0 lead.  With less than 3 minutes left in the half Team Vruno would score on the first play on a 48 yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 7-6. They would kick for the extra point and an 8-7 lead.  Team Vruno offense would control most of the third and fourth quarter keeping the ball away from the Purple offense. Late in the forth quarter the Purple team would get the ball on their own 3 yard line only to be called for holding and Team Vruno was awarded a safety for a 10-7 lead. Our thanks to Katie Fellows and Brad Saltsman for opening up their home and providing great food in hosting our Homecoming Party after the game. We continue to get better every week. Keep the faith. Things will get better! Remember: GREAT THINGS HAPPEN TO TEAMS THAT BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!! PRACTICE HARD WIN EASY!!!!!!!!! Great job Chargers!

Week 5
Kaufman vs Burkhog

Coming into week 5 after being off for a week (rain cancellation) and a week 3 loss, Coach Kaufman’s team was eager to prove themselves in week 5 as one of the top MW teams.

The game opened with an exciting 20 yard kick return by Jake Hirsch and the first offensive series was highlighted by a 40 yd run by Nick Schutz and another 25 yd run by Jake Hirsch resulting in a TD.  The extra point was successful with Nick Schutz pounding his way into the end zone.  The defense stayed strong with the linebackers of Parker Vidmich, Nick Schutz and Drew Eggers forcing their opponent to a 4 and out series.

The second offensive series powered by a line of Auugie Nottolini, Ricky Kaufman, Ryan Hurly, Tyler Smith and Tommy Pullia opened hole after hole for Jacob Ludwig (QB) to scamper for a first down, Schutz rambling for yet another first down and ending in another TD by Hirsch on a sweep.  Ryan Hurly added the extra point with a sweet catch from Ludwig.

The ensuing kickoff resulted in a kick return for a TD by their opponent late in the 2nd period.  Their opponent eventually tied the score at 14-14

Somewhat tired but not broken, Kaufman's tean opened the second half with strong D holding their opponent for yet another 4 and out and the first offensive series saw consecutive 1st down runs by Ludwig, culminating with a blast into the end zone by Egger and Schutz yet again adding the extra point………………..home now 21 and their opponent 14.

As the 4th quarter opened, the excitement started early as we saw Hirsch snatch an interception and then flip the ball to Vidmich for a few extra yards…………the ensuing offensive series ended without a score leaving 3:55 on the clock.  The defensive had their work cut out for them to keep their opponent from scoring.  The D line of Reier Groven, Mitchell Cady, Jacob Seng, Timmy Clohecy and Jacob Ludwig stayed strong and Groven came up with a monster tackle on 2nd and 7 to shut down their opponent’s offense with 1:55 left in the game.  The offensive took their time and played it safe taking a knee to wind down the clock on route to a big win making Kaufman and his boys now 3-1.
